Just installed Win 10 Audacy broke....any suggestions?

Windows 10, Audacity 2.3.0 - Just installed Win 10 on this old computer hardware. Now working now. It worked fine on Win 7 with this hardware but I paid no attention to what it was using at the time.

Here are the available selection for Host and device. Audio Host: Windows WASAPI, Windows Direct Sound, MME - and for Recording DEvice: Digital Audio (S/PDIF) ( HIgh Definition Audio) (Loopback, Speakers (High Def Audio Device) (Loopback), Digital Audio (S/PDIF) ( HIgh Definition Audio).

Is there a guide I might understand and use to figure this out? Or suggestions how to get it working?

Many thanks in advance.

What are you trying to do? Are you trying to record? If so, what are you tying to record?

Maybe you don’t have Windows 10 drivers for your old hardware?

Thanks, yes. I’m trying to record audio from online - youtube. No error message - program opens and graph progresses but no levels indicated.

The “WASAPI loopback” method is usually the best option.

Twice I have had this type of problem after Win 10 upgrade. I had to go to Settings\Sytem\Sound and at the bottom of page find " manage sound devices" and activate my Loopback. Hope it works for you
