joining one track to another

if i have two tracks, say titled

LP3-1

and

LP3-2

is there an easy way to join them to each other?

I find that when I open LP3-1 and then drag LP3-2 to the end of it, the program makes the second track into the second channel (ie, these are both mono tracks) … rather than making them them two simultaneous tracks, I want to extend the first track by adding the second one to it … to make it longer …

how does that work ?

One way is to leave the second selection on the second track and use the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows) to push the second one to the right so it doesn’t start until after the first one is done.

File > Export and Audacity will smash the two together in the final file.
