I recently downloaded Audacity to my PC with Windows 11…it’s basically a new computer system. No matter what I try in settings or read articles on…right now whenever I record…I get a reverb through the speakers and can actually hear what I’m recording through the external speakers. My set up is…Rode NT 1000 mic, connected by an XLR cable to a brand new Focusrite Solo. This is an all new set up and a few years back I had Audacity on a former computer system using the same connections and equipment and NEVER had an issue. I was doing Voice Over work back then, and now my set up is for Podcasting. I sure would appreciate any thoughts…I’ve disconnected and re-connected everything multiple times, and even uninstalled Audacity and re-installed it again. I must be missing something. I’m Stuck ! Thank you…Ken
Of course, you can get feedback into the microphone when monitoring with speakers. And since there is latency (delay) through the computer you’ll get an echo.
Assuming you want to monitor yourself with headphones, I believe your interface has direct monitoring (where the monitoring doesn’t go through the computer)…
Enable that. Plug your headphones into the interface, and turn-off Audible input monitoring.
And make sure to select the USB device as your rRecording Device. (Don’t select anything that says “loopback”.)
