Is there an intrinsic problem with the Effect / Fade Tool?

I have been using Audacity 3.2.4 in Debian LXQt 12.6.0 since Sept,24. I am restricted to the current version by my satisfaction with the current version of Audacity and also other limitations.

I have been observing the problem for some time. I chose to ignore the minor problem. But then I decided that I should report it. Developers would definitely remove it in later releases.

Suppose in a mono track, I place my cursor at one point, from which I want to track to fade out. I use Select > Region > Cursor to Track End.

After I apply the effect, I have always observed an extra tiny section at the end of the track. Always.

Seniors and leaders may try with any track to observe this strange creation.

The segment doesn’t even bother. Except that I have to take an extra step to zoom into the area, double click on the new section and delete it manually.

Eventually, I thought that I should report this strange behaviour.

Testing on W10 with the latest Audacity version 3.7.3 and @bkpsusmitaa 's 3.2.4

I cannot replicate this on either of those versions with:
a) Fade Out
b) Studio Fade Out

Well, then it’s good that by your edition on Win, the problem has been overcome.

BTW, have you zoomed into the area? Hovered the cursor over the area? Did you find a “Hand” pic replacing the cursor pic there?

The additional section is just a few milliseconds wide. Could easily be overlooked while viewing the audio segment normally.

I’m not able to reproduce the problem with the latest development version of Audacity on Linux, so it seems that it has been fixed.

Ok, good to know. Thank you, Mr. Steve. In future, in another edition of Debian I will be able to use your edition.
Presently, I’ll just ignore this minor distraction.
[Postscript: 16h26m23Mar25, IST: However, I will add a screenshot to explain myself better, for future reference, if required.

However, from an unzoomed normal window, if the mouse is hovered over the area of ending, the mouse cursor is transformed into a ‘palm’ drawn in black, and filled with white, which my Screencapture tool couldn’t capture.

Further observation shows that the Selection Tool from Cursor to the end of the track overshoots, not accurate. This must have a role to play in that extra tiny bit of section after Fade Out Effect is applied.
