when I click on the record button, I get a popup that says Error opening recording device. Error code: 0 Success.
It was working and then it stopped working. Anyone have any suggestions? Would greatly appreciate!

I had this same issue, and what fixed it for me was updating and restarting my PC. Try that, then make sure your PC picks up your mic before you go into Audacity.
Yes. That can happen when your microphone or interface isn’t sending data when you press record. You can also get that when you’re recording internet services and they stopped to take a breath and you picked that exact time to press record.
You can try a test. Disconnect your microphone and I bet you get the same error.

Updating Audacity may not be the best idea. I would totally stay where you are assuming you’re not in one of the 3.6 versions.
We’re still cleaning up errors caused by the step from 3.5 to 3.6.
