Is clipboard data recoverable after closing audacity?

I cut some data I meant to transfer to another file, then absent-mindedly closed and saved all my open files. When I reopened the target file, the clipboard was empty. Is that data retrievable? Thanks!

I don’t think that’s the clipboard. I think that’s the Audacity cache system and that resets when you close the program.

Thanks, that’s what I was afraid of. I was hoping the data might be cached somewhere, at least until replaced by the next batch of data.

at least until replaced by the next batch of data.

That’s a violation of several programming rules. Leaving trash lying around to interfere with another application is forbidden. That and historically, Audacity is designed for the smallest footprint possible so to run on modest machines. You should not have problems with opening Audacity because of cleaning up after the last show.

What version of Audacity are you using? See the pink panel at the top of the page. In any recent version of Audacity, any data you cut to the Audacity clipboard persists while Audacity is open, even if you close the project the audio was cut from. The clipboard data is discarded after you quit Audacity.
