Could the following work for removal of an instrument from a commercially recorded cd?
The track i’m wanting to edit has 5 viol parts ( the viols are all tuned to different pitches e.g tenor viol, treble viol, bass viol etc). I want to remove the tenor viol part. So my plan was to record myself playing the tenor part on guitar (at the same pitch and tempo as the tenor viol on the original recording). Then import my guitar part into audacity and inverted it and add it to the original to remove tenor viol. Can that work?
Even if you got the same violinist to play the same tune on the same violin, the invert (destructive interference) method wouldn’t work : the waves have to be constantly in anti-phase for cancellation using the invert method …
That degree of of synchronization would be impossible.
