Hi I have windows 7 and just installed audacity from a disk that came supplied with my new jumbl cassette recorder. it is version 1.2.6
In the instruction manual it says on pages 7 and 8 to :-
Press Edit, then preferences and then set recording device to be “usb audi device” and channels to 2 ( stereo) .
BUT the problem I am having is that when I go to audacity preferences , there is NO option there that says " usb audi device". But I can see the option to set the channels to 2 ( stereo) .
I also have a problem with the instructions on pages 10 and 11 regarding setting Audacity for windows 7 as it says to click USB PnP audio device and setting , but I don’t get this option.
Maybe this is because the first problem I mentioned above, hasn’t been solved and it needs that stage complete, before doing the next set up stage.
I’m a little disappointed that it doesn’t work, but realise this is the first time I’ve ever seen or used the package and have probably made a mistake somewhere along the line, so if anyone can help me to set up my new audacity program I would be very grateful . Many thanks Jimmymerlin
Sorry, but as it says in the pink panel at the top of the page, Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x versions are now obsolete.
If you would like help here, please install the current Audacity 2.1.1 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows. You can install 2.1.1 into the same folder over the top of the 1.2.6 installation.
If you have connected the USB player after starting Audacity, you would need to restart Audacity before it can see the USB Audio CODEC device (or whatever the USB player device is called).
