Hi Steve,
My first post/request for help here, and I so hope you can, please!
I have just tried to install Audacity 2.1.0 AND 2.1.1 and it installs OK but when I try to launch the application my PC crashes!!
I am using both *.exe files when installing, but I do also have the *.zip for 2.1.1 if needed.
My PC is using WinXP Home Ed., SP3, Intell Core ™2 Duo CPU with 1Gb RAM.
I have also installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) for 32-bit Windows.
Am I having conflicts from other already installed applications?
I’d be most grateful if you could help advise here as I have an audio project that needs the 48KHz ability Audacity provides and my other music software only allows to 44.1KHz.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks.
First thing, ensure you download from official sources. The correct download page is here: http://web.audacityteam.org/download/windows
If you downloaded from somewhere else, uninstall the versions that you have, run a full depth anti-virus scan, then get Audacity 2.1.1 by following the links on the Audacity download page and install it.
If you already have the official version of Audacity, then it could be a driver problem. See here for more information: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updating_Sound_Device_Drivers

Also if you cannot identify the source of the crash, try “WhoCrashed” mentioned in this FAQ: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_errors.html#reboot.
