I am trying to transfer some cassettes to my computer. I have my tape deck plugged into my computer but I can’t get Audacity to see my imput. I have tried several computers and still nothing. I tested my cable with a set of headphones so the output of the tape deck is working.
Any help would be appreciated.

Plugged-in where?
A headphone-level or line-level signal should be plugged into a line-input (usually color coded blue on a regular soundcard). If you have a laptop with no line-input you’ll need an USB audio interface with line inputs. The Behringer UCA202 is popular and inexpensive, or there are lots of audio interfaces with switchable mic/line inputs. Do not get a regular “USB soundcard” because they are like laptops with only mic-in and headphone-out.
Thank you. I was trying to plug the cassette deck headphone jack into the microphone jack on the laptop.
Again than you!
