I have installed Audacity 2.0.3 in my windows 7 system, the latest compatable
one. On opening the aucacity, the Input and output devices are showing blank
ans so unable to record. I have another system with Windows XP. In it the
same version is installed which shows the input as Realtek HD Audio output
and other as Realtek HD Audio Input Line volume and recotding is
normal. Lame v3.99.3 is installed in both. Plesae solve the problem and

I have removed your email address. It’s very dangerous to post an address on the forum.
Win7 can hide sound devices. You should set your devices in the Windows Control Panels first, and then Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices. If all that happens correctly, the devices will appear in the recording pulldown from the Audacity main window.
I’m looking for the Win7 instructions. Another elf may be along to help.

Audacity cannot record if there are no sound devices enabled. You have to follow these instructions http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#vistacp to show and enable the sound input devices in Windows “Sound”.
