Initializing Audio Error

Hello. I downloaded Audacity version 2.0.5 today from the official audacity site. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Upon opening the program I get the following error message. “Could not find any audio devices. You will not be able to play or record audio. Error:Internal PortAudio error” I came to this forum and did a search and found 3 threads with the same issue happening.

Only one of the threads was marked solved (apparently because the original posters didn’t follow up on questions presented by those replying and attempting to help) The solved thread advised reinstalling the audio drivers by going to your computer manufacturers website and downloading the official up to date audio drivers. I did this but I am still getting the error.

I did a Google search for the error and wasn’t able to find anything helpful there either. I hope someone can help me to get Audacity working because from what I have read it is a great and fun to use product. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to lend their time and knowledge to solving this issue.

You should make sure that was http://audacityteam.org .

Audacity does not provide audio devices for you. You have to provide and enable them.

What is the exact make and model number of the computer?

Have you followed Missing features - Audacity Support , making sure you show and enable all the playback and recording devices?

If you cannot enable any devices there, open Device Manager, and expand “Sound, video and game controllers”. Right-click over your sound device. Use the options to Install or Enable. If you only see Disable or Uninstall, try Uninstall, then run the driver installer you downloaded again and reboot the computer.
