Hi all. I’m on OS 10.13.6 and am using Audacity 3.0.2. I am using the iRig Studio Mic to record. When I hit the record button, Audacity records a sound right at the beginning. I managed to turn this off yesterday, but I can’t remember what I did to turn it off. It’s like Audacity activates my mic (its light turns on) and then something makes the mic pick up a loud click. It happens every time.
Whenever this happens, I get a dropout error message after I stop recording.

I don’t know that the light is supposed to turn on to indicate recording. It’s supposed to be on to indicate connection to the computer. If it turns on just before recording, you may be listening to the microphone startup/powerup which can be really noisy.
Click in the recording meters > Start Monitoring. That will turn the microphone on and measure it to make sure it’s OK before you actually record. The recording meter should bounce with your voice. Then press the Red Record button from there.
