I am running Audacity 2.2.2 in Windows 10. Until recently I run Audacity with Windows 7.
Now I would like to know how to increase AC3 5.1 levels without altering the original recorded balance, only the audio levels sounds a bit low.
How do I proceed when doing that?

If you don’t know this - If this is an audio/video file your new-saved file will be audio-only.
If you haven’t done so already, install the FFmpeg import/export library. (Download & run ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe.)
Go to Edit → Preferences → Import Export
Select Use Advanced Mixing Options (This prevents the file from being mixed-down to stereo.)
Open the AAC file, Select All, and run the Amplify Effect.
Then,
File → Export → Export Audio
Select a folder and enter a file name, etc.
Save As Type: AC3 Files (FFmpeg)
Choose a bitrate and Save
Of course I know all that you mention. Didn’t I say that I am used to work with Dolby AC3 quite often?
The question is this: I just convert from DTS 5.1 to Dolby 5.1. New touch the levels.
I have only increased level in mono or stereo audio, but never in 5.1.
So how do I proceed to increase the levels of all 6 tracks and not lose the orginal relationship between the channels?

When all tracks are selected, the Amplify effect applies the same gain (or attenuation) to all tracks.
Thank you. That’s what I needed to know.
