I’m new to Audacity. I downloaded it for a Music class I am taking while in school and while interesting, it is also very confusing to me. I’m not looking for someone to do assignments for me but to help guide me through some steps so I can better understand this program while doing the assignments so I can enjoy the course instructions. I have already downloaded Audacity and watched about 30 instructional videos on how to make music but I am just not getting it. I live on the east coast in the U.S. I appreciate everyone in advance.
Be careful of on-line videos. Many of them have errors / mistakes / bad advice / poor examples /… and they almost always show obsolete versions of Audacity without telling you which version they are using (and no-one ever goes back to update them).
Unfortunately we do not have the resources to provide video tutorials (or telephone / email / video-chat help), but the manual is always kept up to date, and has many tutorials in text and pictures. The latest version of the manual is also available on-line: https://manual.audacityteam.org/
If you have specific questions, you are welcome to ask here on the forum. Please include a detailed description of what you are trying to do, what equipment you are using (including the version of macOS and version of Audacity), and what is happening. Remember that we can’t see your computer, so we don’t know what you don’t tell us - too much detail is better than not enough.
I’ve been using Audacity for about ten years now, I don’t know if I’m a “power user” but I’m pretty comfortable with it. Feel free to e-mail me directly with any specific questions and, if I can, I’ll provide whatever answers I can.
