Is there any way of improving the audio from a DSLR onboard mic? I have used the Noise Reduction effect to help reduce wind noise but I wondered if there was something that could improve the somewhat tinny voice quality?

The best solution is to get a better microphone. The best choice depends on the type of work you are doing. For general purpose (and under $100), I’ve been very happy with a “SE Electronics Laser”, though there are many other mics in this price range. For “outdoor interview” type work, a hand held mic would be better as you can get a much stronger signal from the person talking and less background noise. For speech indoors, lapel mics can work very well.
