I would like to know whether it is possible to import audio tracks from one Audacity project into another instantly (similarly to how uncompressed .wav files in the previous versions of the program could be loaded instantly into a project by reading them directly from the disk).
What happened when you tested?

I have tried to find an option to import audio from another project but did not see it in the menu. Does such an option exist? If it exists, I would like to know whether it can read the audio directly, without copying it into the existing project.
Copy and Paste ?
No. Audacity does not operate directly on files. Either audio is in the project, or it is not in the project. A saved AUP3 project file is entirely self contained.
Copy and Paste ?
Yes, I can see that this is an option which can be used. I had thought that loading audio from another project may be done automatically and instantly through a macro instruction (which was called a “chain” in previous versions).
Macros can only act on the project from which the macro was launched. They cannot interact with other projects. If I recall correctly, it was the same for Chains.
