In Audacity 3, importing a file to create a new track would name that new track after the file. This was very useful for, say, importing stems named by instrument, or editing several files at once and then exporting them again using Export Audio > Multiple Files (which is not in Audacity 4.0.0, but I understand it is coming in 4.0.1).
In Audacity 4, importing a file via File > Import does name the newly created tracks after the source files. However, if those files are dragged into the Audacity window, I end up with a series of tracks with generic names (Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio 3…) and have to rename them myself.
I would appreciate if this was updated to match the Audacity 3 behaviour (naming tracks after files regardless of import method), as this is a minor pain when working with many tracks.
