iMac--Audacity Won't Start

Hi, I’m runnig a new iMac, 10.7.3. I disabled plugins with the suggested following in “Portable Settings” and Audacity still won’t start. Report attached.

Then I created the folder Audacity for the /Library/Application Support routed I[ve read about here, and still not opening/crashing…this is a real mess. Any suggestions would help. Many thanks.

Also, should audacity.cfg in Portable Settings folder have text .rtf after cfg., or no? I have it as cfg. I don’t want to use any of my plugins. Thanks!

To install Audacity, simply drag the contents of the DMG to your Applications folder. The DMG contains an “Audacity” folder that contains everything you need to install.

No need to create a folder in /Library/Application Support. If anything that folder should be in /Library/Application Support and should be “audacity” (note lower case). However, if you have a Portable Settings folder inside the same folder as the Audacity application, then Audacity will store it’s settings there.

The audacity.cfg file should be named exactly that - no .cfg or .txt extra extension.

When Audacity crashes, look at the crash report. Copy and paste the first 20 lines or so of the crash report into a message here. We don’t need the whole report, we just need to know what Audacity was doing when it crashed, and the first 20 lines should tell us that. Do not copy and paste the entire crash report.

To disable all effects, using TextEdit, create a file that has exactly this content:

Hi, I’ve the same issue on a MacBookPro with 8Gb of RAM. I’don’t have found the audacity.cfg file, but I’ve create one and put it in the Audacity folder where the app reside. Permissions are ok and rebuild. Any idea? that’s the crash report:

Ok, solved.
the audacity.cfg (lowercase) file should be put in the Portable Settings folder.
Please solve the conflicts with the VST Waveshell 8.0, maybe there’s the problem-

Hi guys , im running on Mac book pro 2008 late intel 2 duo and i have this version 10.5.8 and i have logic and ableton live as well
so i downloaded the 2.0 version of audacity but it doesnt open …
