So I am trying to record myself singing with backing tracks. I am playing backing tracks in winamp, then audio is going through mixer via audio/headphone socket also g with microphone, then back into laptop via USB to record in audacity. I have used this method before and it worked great but now as soon as I plug the USB into the laptop the audio stops coming out through the audio socket and I get nothing going back in at all, not even the mic. Can anyone help with the settings I need to change? I’m not hugely tech savvy so might need it explaining like I’m a 5 year old.
Hi, thanks for the suggestion, I’ve tried changing all different ways and checked it before and after putting the USB into the laptop unfortunately doesn’t seem to be fixing the problem. Everything works fine right up until I plug the USB in and then nothing is coming out of the laptop into the mixer, it seems as though it is trying to send the sound through the USB but I can’t seem to change this whatever settings I change. I have tried playing on something other than winamp in case this was the issue but still no luck. I would think this wasn’t possible if it wasn’t for the fact I have successfully done this before as this is literally the entire reason I got audacity to start with.

figured out part of the problem, got the sound coming out through the audio jack into mixer but still not getting anything coming back in through USB to audacity. Tried every possible combination of settings in the audio setup section. Not sure where to go from here
Mine is the rather more basic 302USB. Are you sure that the red buttons marked USB/2-TR are in the right position ie up or down so that the routing through the mixer is correct? That was my first thought. It doesn’t help that the Behringer manuals are quite rubbish. Also, the recording device in Audacity itself should be something like USB Codec (or it could be more Behringer-specific).
This YouTube video covers common issues with Behringer mixers: USB Audio issues
I hope that helps.
