I only have .au files. Can I re-build a project from them?

I have version 2.1.1, Windows 10 and I installed Audacity tonight using Ninite.com’s installer.

I have a directory containing 267 .au files which I somehow saved off the Leeds International Piano Competition website 8 years ago. That is all I have in respect of the project. The directory name is “KT - Stage 2_data”. From what I’ve read on this forum I suspect that that was the project name BUT I do not have a .aup file.

I can drag individual files into Audacity and they play. This leads me to hope that I could piece them all together into a project.

  1. Is that correct?
  2. As there are 267 files could you please point me towards the best way of going about it (in case any method I invent for myself proves to be the worst way)

Thanks a lot.

If it was an unedited recording, then it ‘may’ be possible to recover it, but don’t get your hopes too high

Thank you very much Steve for pointing me to the right part of the knowledge base. Sorry to put you to that trouble but I will tackle the task now with more confidence/determination even if, as you warn, the attempts may be unsuccessful. As regards previous editing, from the nature of the material I doubt there has been any at all except maybe between items and I may be able to ‘work round’ those if necessary. Thanks again.
