I need help with an .xwb file.

Hello, first time poster here. I need to lower the dB for an .xwb file but when I open it up and lower the volume I can’t save it. There’s no way to save changes without exporting as something else.

So my question is, is there a way to save to the file instead of exporting? Thanks in advance. I’m using version 2.1.2

Audacity will not Save a sound file. It saves Projects which only open and play in Audacity. To get a sound file at all you have to Export one.

Installing the FFMpeg add-on software will allow you to create additional different types of sound. Add the Lame software if you want to make an MP3.

Audacity cannot export XWB files.

A solution that definitely works is to use the command-line XWBTool to convert a WAV file or files to XWB but as far as I can tell you have to compile this using Visual Studio.

Or try the Microsoft Cross-Platform Audio Creation Tool (XACT) which is linked to from the link in Koz’s post.

We can’t help you with this. You “may” still be able to find a ready-compiled XWBTool on a gaming forum but most such links to it have been removed due to copyright concerns.
