Choose the correct Audacity playback device in Device Toolbar and turn the playback volume slider up in Mixer Toolbar:

If you are recording a flat line then you are not recording anything - choose the correct recording device in Device Toolbar and turn the recording volume slider up in Mixer Toolbar.

If you need more help, please give us all the information requested in the pink panel at the top of the page and tell us exactly what you are recording and exactly what recording equipment you are using (makes and model numbers).

I am using the super usb cassette capture.
Using the audacity software.
Using a hp with Windows 7.
The levels were up but still not recording
Just flat line.

You still have not given us the version number from Help > About Audacity… . Make sure that says Audacity 2.1.2. If it does not, install 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows. Otherwise the links waxcylinder gave you will not match with the Audacity version you are using.
