I have a corrupted file on a mac - help?

I was using Audacity on my mac to record a podcast episode, and when I saved it and closed it, the file was over 2 GB. Then when I reopened the file in Audacity, it said the file had an error and Audacity had therefore “recovered the last snapshot”. I couldn’t see the recording in the file anymore, but it did show the time markers as if the recording were still there (in other words, the episode was about 47 minutes long, and when I open the file, it is at about 47 minutes in - but there’s no recording showing). Additionally, while there was originally one file at 2+ GB, now there’s two files of the same name that are much, much smaller.

Can someone help me to recover the file? Is my recording possibly still in there and I just can’t see it? Or would this error have potentially deleted the recording?

Thank you for your help here!

Hi,
As soon as I saw the size of the files you shared on Google Drive I felt sure there was no meaningful data in them. Your original 2GB would have been more realistic but 20k and 320k are far too small. I could open them in Audacity and it showed a timescale around 47 mins but there was nothing there at all. Maybe the Audacity developers have an idea what to try next. The log file might mean something to them.
Sorry I couldn’t be more help. I hate the ones that get away.
