I’m new to Audacity and i really need to how to do certain things. When demo’d how to delete, I was told I could just select and delete straight from my keyboard. However I try to do so and it won’t delete – i am using a laptop i don’t know if this is a factor.
Also, I had a great moment when I could cut and paste a clip successfully. I tried again and no luck!

The tools only work from Stop, not Pause.
You may find the zoom tools valuable. Drag-select a portion of the show slightly bigger than you think you’ll need and zoom into it with Control-E. Control-3 zooms out a little bit and Control-F zooms out to the whole show.

i am having the same problem but your answer doesn’t answer the question. I am new to writing in forums so maybe i am missing something.
when you are cutting music, you have to pause…and then go to where you want to cut to. if you use the stop button, it goes back to the beginning again. what am i doing wrong?
