I can not record just one voice

Hi everyone!

I have a small issue. I am recording a podcast with several speakers with audacity, everyone is using is recording his own track. Point is that my track records the other voices too even if I put on earphones.

MME Microphone (Realtek High Definition) Speakers (Realtek High Definition).

I tried to change earphones with one without mic used for the Ipod, nothing changed.

How can I fix this problem? I can not participate because my track has the other voices recorded and it makes echo when added to the others.

Thanks for your time guys.

That’s the Renegade Sound problem. This drives the overdubbing people nuts. The computer somehow mixes all the tracks together instead of just recording the performer, although yours may be easier to solve.

Right, so you can record your own voice on its own, separate recorder, or call the others on a phone conference call and record you on the computer.

I don’t think there is any computer conference call and single computer recording of you on one machine. That’s too many different computer sound pathways.

I did a show with two computers. Skype on one for coordination and Audacity on the other for recording the show.

I recorded a split location radio broadcast where the Los Angeles performer called the interviewer on the phone. They recorded the interviewer clean and I recorded his voice—clean and alone. That’s how we split the jobs. The phone voice never appeared in the show.

Thank you for your kind answer Koz.

Is there a guide or way to find the origin of this renegade problem on the pc?

Or do you maybe know a program that allows you to record a conference call with all separate tracks?

Because is pretty annoying, I followed a guide saying that for a beginner was not necessary to buy a condensation mic and a focusrite but that was enough with the earphones. Unfortunately I can not dispose of a second pc now.

If there was we would tell you. Our job is to solve problems like this, but this problem has stayed hidden.

Some of the best quality podcasts make everyone record their own voice in their own city and then post the sound tracks to the person in the middle who edits them all together into one show. The honky, bubbly conference voice never appears in the show. Yes there are some serious problems with this. If any one person screws up, that’s the end of the show. And that multiple voice problem can kill the show, too.

For a while there we were recommending Skype on-line recording. They will smash all your conference voices together into one show and send it to you, but we found something wrong with that and I don’t remember what it was. Searching.

Other than not using the computer to record sound, there doesn’t seem to be any desperation method.

desperation method.

I’m not being funny there. Anybody who does this for pay knows how to do the job -and- how to do the job if everything goes into the toilet. The desperation method.

“The interview crashed, but I have a backup on my cellphone.”

There doesn’t seem to be any good way around these recent sound problems.

The Skype recording technique is only available for Skype calls.

There is provision for calling into Skype from any cellphone and any landline (used to be at extra cost). You may not do that in a recorded call.

The recording is only available for 30 days.

Thank you for your help, it has been very appreciated.

I think we can close, then.

If you get one to work, post back how you did it.
