how to stop recording then resume recording on the same trac

I am using Windows XP. I want to record voiceovers as a single track. Now everytime I resume recording a new track is started and this will not work for me.

Transport menu > Append Record (Shift + R)

You could also Pause recording with the P key. P again to resume recording.
