How to stop Audacity from automatically opening .aup files?

I use AviUtl (video editor with project file extention .aup) and have Audacity downloaded for the occasional audio format conversion/recording, but I don’t make project files with it. On a few occasions, I’ve double-clicked an .aup file for a video I’m working on, at which point Audacity tries to read it. Not sure how, but this has always corrupted the file, and then AviUtl can no longer read it. Is there a way to make it so Audacity isn’t chosen as the default file for opening .aup?

So this selection is being made by the operating system once Audacity is installed.

Look at: Change default programs in Windows - Microsoft Support

Also, take a look at the option “Choose default apps by file type”.

Thank you so much!
