How to recover project from data document

Hi!

I’m on Windows 8.1 and using Audacity 2.1.1

I’m looking to recover a project that I’ve lost. I’ve only the data document left. How can I do ? (if it’s possible)

If you mean you only have the _data folder, it would be best if you could find the AUP file or AUTOSAVE file. What happened?

If it’s an unedited recording and you have the _data folder, you can try http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recovering_crashes_manually.html. If it was an edited project, it’s a case of dragging the AU files in from the _data folder by hand and rearranging them.

You have a few other options. If you have enabled Windows File History then you can look for a Previous Version of the AUP file and/or the _data folder. Or if you have an old-fashioned spinning drive, you can try file recovery software like Pandora. Install the recovery software on, and recover to, an external drive.
