Mac computers don’t have that ability built in. You need to use additional software. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_mac.html

Installed and followed instruction read it few times, anyway nothing is happening, also what I’ve understood that program Soundflower helps you to record whats in the computer but not if you connect it to mixer. So any other advices?

many thanks

Do you have a Stereo Line-In like the left-hand connector?

If not and if the Mac setup panels doesn’t volunteer to switch one connector between headphone and line-in, you don’t have one.

Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound.
Some Macs (13" MBP) could switch one connection in this panel. You lose your headphone connection when you do that.

I use a Behringer UCA-202 to make a Stereo Line-In to computers that don’t natively have one. I bought a new but older MacBook Pro (optical drive) so I wouldn’t have this problem.

So this beringher thing is connected through the mixer and goes into usb port as i see, am I right? Do you need any additional software for that?

No extra software needed.

Thanks Gale!

Ok but then do i need to make a different input on audacity? cause i believe it will look input through earphone jack, or audacity will detect through usb on its own.

Thanks

The idea is that you connect your mixer to the line inputs of the Behringer, connect the Behringer to the computer with the USB cable, open Audacity, then choose the Behringer USB audio CODEC as recording device in Audacity’s Device Toolbar.

There is an easier app called SoundSiphon for capturing sounds playing on the computer, if you want to do that: Sound Siphon.
