How to insert the Index Marks while recording in Audacity?

index mark or a temp mark (Olympus)
Index Marks are digital tags that can be inserted while recording or during playback. They are used to skip forward or backward in recordings to pre-selected points. Up to 16 Index Marks can be added to a single file.

How to insert the Index Marks while recording in Audacity?

Audacity doesn’t have Index Marks or Edit Points, but it does have Labels. You can plant labels during a recording.

Thx. Any tip of quick labeling while busy watching everything else during the recording?
Just need to access the segment’s start/ end points later for quick editing/deleting etc.

use Ctrl + M to set a label marker at the current recording, or playback position

You can type into the label to provide id as the recording, or playback continues

Thanks.

  1. what is the easiest way to skip forwards/backward etc to label 1 , then to label 2 locations.

  2. if an when stop at label 1/2, how to copy/paste (short cut) the current stop location hh:mm:ss directly into the start/end postion respectively for selecting purpose?

You can jump to last/next label using “Alt”+“←”, “Alt”+“→” …

Found the Left/Right arrows
Alt key works fine with them;
Alt also works with TAB/Sht+Tab to skip forward/backward etc.
Thanks.
