How to "Export Multiple" just part of a track?

I have several stereo tracks from a local concert I recorded. The stereo tracks are all the same material, but with different microphone configurations. For example, one stereo track with a spaced pair of omnis. Another stereo track with cardioids in ORTF configuration. I have created a label track which I want to use with EXPORT MULTIPLE to create wav files.

For some pieces I want to do the export from one stereo track, and for other pieces, from another one. That is, I want different selections to be from different microphone configurations.

I tried SELECTing a portion of one of the stereo tracks, and then doing an EXPORT MULTIPLE (labels), in an attempt to get multiple wav files created from the SELECTed portion of the track. However, Audacity ignored my SELECTed area, and the EXPORT MULTIPLE just kept on prompting for all the labels on the whole track.

How can I perform an EXPORT MULTIPLE (Labels), but only on the portion of the stereo track that I want to export?

Thank you.

DG

File > Export Selection.

I don’t think there’s any way to combine Export Selected with Export Multiple. If you know you have the whole work safely Saved as a Project, you can selectively delete the portions you don’t want and then UNDO later. Projects do not Save UNDO, so don’t close Audacity with a partial Project.

Then Export Multiple will start working. There may be other options.

Thank you, Koz. The DELETE idea seems like the way to go.

Another way could be to have multiple label tracks with region labels and move the label tracks up and down in the project as required. Export only takes place for the uppermost label track in the project.
