How to display two tracks at equal scale

Hello, I am making a recording from two different devices and want to compare the signal level (volume) of the two recordings. How can I set up Audacity to display the two tracks at equal scale in order to make the comparison? Would making the two windows for the two tracks equal height on the screen be adequate? I currently have the two recordings in different aup files.
Thanks
Ron

Are you saying you want to have the tracks in the same single project?

If so, File > Export Audio as WAV from one project and File > Import > Audio that WAV file into the other project.

If you want to be sure the tracks are the same height, View > Fit Vertically.

Also see http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audio_tracks.html#scale.

Thanks Gale. FYI, you can copy a track and paste into another Audacity window, instead of export then import.
Ron

True, but be sure to copy and paste, not cut and paste. In the unlikely event that Audacity crashes between the cut and the paste, that makes it difficult to recover the cut audio.
