How to delete "spikes"

Using Audacity 3.1.3
I do a lot of live recording and every now and then there is a “spike” caused by unplugging a mic cord…
Or some kind of short in the cord and moving the guitar, for example, causes the spike to hit…

So car I’ve been expanding the file then needling the spike out…time consuming…

What is the best way to eliminate these spikes…???

Don’t do that. Or mute the channel or turn down the gain or fader if you have to do this.

Have you looked into the D’Addario Accessories Circuit Breaker Instrument Cable or Neutrik NP2RX-AU-SILENT Professional Plug ?

I can’t imagine why this issue is so pervasive, nor why you care about these audio glitches. I don’t think there are any automatic tools you are going to be happy with - but I would be happy to see other suggestions.

I really don’t have any control over the musicians plugging / unplugging instruments…
And we located the bad mic cable…it’s a goner…

But on this 1 particular track there is a lot of “clicking” etc…I was just looking for some
quicker way to get rid of the clicks…

Guess there isn’t any…

Thanks for the response…
