how to adjust the recording levels

hi
when I record 78s or lps into the computer the recording level bars aren’t even…one is too low and the other is too high…shouldent they be even?is this a computer problem or audacity issue?how do I adjust this?thanks

How are you doing that? What equipment are you using and how is it connected to the computer?

How much difference are you seeing? It would be surprising if the levels were identical, but I’d not usually expect more than a few dB difference in the ‘average’ left/right levels.

hi
numark 11 200 turntable into onkyo receiver into the “line in” on the back of my computer…yeah the tops of the waves are touching the top and bottom of the editor…when I try to record a record the recording levels aren’t even…the top recording lever isn’t as strong as the bottom lever…

If this has only just happened, check your stylus and headshell alignment.

Also note you can correct channel imbalance with Effect > Normalize… making sure “Normalize stereo channels independently” is checked (ticked).
