how do you advance music tracks-not listen to each song

Version 2.0.4.0 - Win 7 - exe.
How do you advance the music tracks, so as not to have to listen to each song?
Also, how can you go backwards in the tracks?
How do you put space between 1 song & another?

Audacity 2.0.4 is very old. The current version is 2.1.1 and is available here: http://web.audacityteam.org/download/windows

To set the point that you want to play from, just click on the blue wiggly waveform at the point that you want play to start, and click the Play button.
The keyboard shortcut for Play and Stop is the spacebar.

You can also skip forward or back while playing by pressing and holding down the left or right cursor keys.

In Audacity 2.1.1 you can also play instantly from any point by clicking on the “Timeline” above the audio track(s).

If you install the recommended version of Audacity, it includes a comprehensive manual (in the “Help” menu). The first page of the manual has links to tutorials that you may find useful,

Several ways, but the easiest is - click where you want to insert space, Generate > Silence… then choose the silence to be inserted and click OK.

Thanks for your help - I’ve installed the newest version of Audacity. What are the ‘cursor’ keys?
