How do I get a better sound?

Hi. I’ve used Audacity in the past with minimal problems. However, recently (and I don’t know why there was a change; I haven’t gone into any menus and changed anything and I haven’t added any new hardware - my only thought is that some other software update changed some internal audio parameters that affected Audacity somehow), when I record audio from YouTube, I get this kind of echo chamber sound – although the audio sounds fine on my PC, the Audacity recording acquires a kind of hollow sound. I’m using Audacity 2.1.1 on a Windows 10 PC. What settings do you recommend to get a more natural sound? The windows are too small so I can’t give you the full selection names that appear above the recording meter but these are the choices that I have set (from left to right): WINDOWS D // PRIMARY SOUND CA // 2 STEREO // PRIMARY SOUND DR.

Sounds like “Windows Enhancements”, (a Windows thing, not an Audacity thing). You should turn all “enhancements” off …

Try selecting WASAPI loopback. See this tutorial.

Or more simply, paste the YouTube URL into the box at SaveFrom.net.

You can drag Device Toolbar wider at its right-hand edge.
