Running Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit. Audacity 2.1.2. When I read the https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/labels_editor.html on how to edit labels, I see “Edit > Labels > Edit Labels…” But my system does not do that. In the edit menu, I only see “Labelled audio” not “Edit Labels”. So I am stuck on editing labels. Please advise.
That’s a pretty old version. I think the Label Editor may have been listed in the “Tracks” menu back then.
The easiest way to edit a single label name is to click in the label name and type (you can also use backspace and Del). Note that when deleting characters, once the label is empty, one more Del or backspace will delete the entire label (“Ctrl + Z” to undo).
To edit a label’s position or size, you can click and drag. See: Label Tracks - Audacity Manual
