how do I create a 4 channel file for quad. sound in audacity

Hello,

I’ve been trying to create a four channel sound file for quadraphonic sound.
I read somewhere else that all one needed to do was to go to the Preferences menu and then to “File Formats” and to Advanced Mixing,
but I have not been able to find “File Formats” in the Preferences menu. Please advise,

The manual is probably the most reliable information.
"Edit > Preferences > Import / Export "
then un-check “Always mix all tracks down to stereo or mono channel(s)”
