Hiya, I’ve been working on an audiobook recording for submission to Author’s Republic and I’m a little confused about their RMS requirements. I’ve tried 3 different times to submit to them and they keep telling me that “all tracks are outside required volume RMS” which is between -23 and -18 decibels. I first submitted the tracks with a -8 gain that kept all of the monitored sound between -23 and -18 but that wasn’t up to their requirements, so I’ve tried repeatedly lowering the gain but to no avail. I might just be confused as to how to check up on my RMS since I’m fairly new to this whole game. Forgive me if I sound like an idiot
Long story short, my question is how do I change the RMS on my files? And how do I change my RMS to suit the needs of Author’s Republic?
That audiobook mastering suite of tools guarantees meeting ACX audiobook testing for Loudness (RMS) and Peak and the only thing left is Noise. Home performers never pass noise. Nobody’s house is studio quiet.
Nobody can read directly into Audiobook Standards, or if you do, you’ll never do it twice. So you have to have some effects before you submit.
We can do an evaluation if you record a short sound test.
