Horizontal scroll bar sometimes jumps to more than one screen

When clicking the horizontal scrollbar sometimes it jumps to more than one screen. This happens both for backward and forward direction and sometimes even when clicking the scrollbar only once. I thought it was the mouse but the behavior remains even when another mouse was used. Workaround is to click the horizontal scroll arrow but this slows down the process. Please let me know if there’s a new Audacity setting (or a new Windows setting, etc) that I need to disable so that the Audacity scrollbar will revert to the previous behavior. Thanks in advance from a newbie

The issue you’re experiencing with the Audacity scrollbar jumping more than one screen is not uncommon. It’s usually not related to a specific setting within Audacity or Windows, but rather could be due to a few different factors:

Audacity Preferences: Check Audacity’s preferences for any scrolling or track behaviors that might be causing this issue.
Graphics Driver: Ensure your graphics driver is up to date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause display and interaction issues.
Software Glitch: Sometimes, software glitches can cause erratic behavior. A reinstall or update of Audacity might help.
System Performance: If your system is under heavy load, it might not register clicks accurately, leading to jumps in the scrollbar.
If none of these solutions work, consider reaching out to the Audacity community or support forums for further assistance. They might have more specific advice, especially if this is a known issue with a recent version of the software.

Best Regards,

Thank you @vincent9874 for the useful suggestions. My computer is old so I followed your suggestion to reinstall. Versions 3.5.1 and 3.5.0 both have the unwanted behavior but 3.4.2 does not have the unwanted scroll bar behavior. I will stick with 3.4.2 because I suspect the unwanted scroll bar user interface behavior is triggered by something in my older PC that’s absent in newer PC.
