High pitch squeal throughout part of audio

OSX Catalina
Audacity version 3

I imported a reel to reel tape that is over 60 years old. Part of the audio has a very high pitch squeal that goes higher pitch towards the end. Most of the squeal is on the right channel but it bled into the left. I have tried to remove the noise but have been unsuccessful. I can hear the audio that I want but would like to remove the high pitch squealing. Is there a filter that can do this?

Do you still have the tape? Do an internet search for “bake tape”.

Other wise you are probably out of luck. The “squeal” of a sticky tapes contains a lot of frequencies so cannot be easily filtered out.

Yes I still have the tape. Thanks for the suggestion.
