high pitch noise when recording

Using my MAc OSX with ion turntablea and audacity 1.2.6. I keep getting a high pitch continuous white noise during recording and playback. It increases with gain control. It comes and goes. I have tried everything (new plugs, where I plug into the wall, removal of other nearby devices etc). Now I simply cannot get rid of this noise.

ANY SUGGESTIONS FOLKS?

The combination of Mac OS, USB, and Audacity is unstable. Once it goes, you’re pretty much stuck with what ever you have.

You can help a great deal by eliminating the USB portion.

Once you get over the idea of transferring all your work analog, the rest goes very smoothly–unless you’re on an Air.
