high pitch interference

On recording via Hauptwerk software and sound card (digital pipe organ) I am getting high pitched whistling sounds.
Have attached an example.
If you can help track the reason I would be very grateful and will send you a free mp3!

Thanks,
Robert

An AUP file is not an audio file. We can’t listen to that file because there is no audio data in AUP files.
See here for an explanation: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_projects.html

See here for how to send audio samples to the forum: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-post-an-audio-sample/29851/1

If you are recording on a laptop computer, try running the computer on batteries with the power cord disconnected. Some laptops pick up interference from their power supply.

have attached as WAV file, hope this is better.
am using a PC, not a laptop.
Thanks,
Robert

No, that’s an XML file.

To create an audio file you need to Export. See here for details: Audacity Manual

sorry about that, better start again.
I didn’t check that but had selected WAV!
wav file attached
thanks,
Robert

Well I agree that there is some high pitched noise there, which sounds like it could be power supply noise, but the main thing that I notice is a very loud low pitched hum. Is that supposed to be there?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply.
The organ sounds do use the extremes of pitch with 32 foot long pipes.
So yes, they are ok. It is the high pitches that are not supposed to be there.
You did mention using battery on a laptop.
It is strange (to me), that this sound is not there when I am recording.
