HIDDEN SELECTTIONS

2.3.3 WINDOWS 10
I WAS TRYING TO REMOVE SOME NOISY PAGE TURNS ON A 14-TRACK PROJECT. I SELECTED A NOISY REGION IN THE TIMELINE ON THE TOP TRACK AND THEN WENT THROUGH THE TRACKS, SOLOING EACH ONE AND PLAYING THE SELECTED REGION TO FIND THE NOISE. THEN I SELECTED THE NOISE AND USED AMPLIFY TO DROP IT 30 DB . BUT I DIDN’T REALIZE THAT MY ORIGINAL SELECTION ON THE NOW HIDDEN TOP TRACK WAS STILL SELECTED, SO AMPLIFY DELETED THE GOOD SOUND ON THE HIDDEN TOP TRACK TOO.

IF YOU HAVE HIDDEN SELECTIONS, AUDACITY SHOULD WARN YOU “WARNING -DO YOU WANT TO AFFECT THE HIDDEN SELECTIONS?”

Please avoid writing in all upper case.

I’ll move your suggestion to the “adding features” forum board, though personally I doubt that the suggestion would be popular with most users. When working on large projects I think it would quickly become annoying to be repeatedly asked to confirm that you want to use the selection that you have made.
