I use Audacity 3.7.7 on Windows 11, but I had already noticed that before: I was wondering why some of my tracks had weird balances or volumes without any action from me.
And I noticed that my volume and balance sliders are moving when I click on a track even though they are hidden.
Steps to reproduce:
Reduce the height of a track until the balance slider just disappears
Click on the imaginary position of the hidden slider to move it left or right
Increase the height of the track until the balance slider reappears
Notice that the slider has moved although it was hidden
having seen your screenshots I went back and tested again. I wanted to see if I could see the ghost tooltips that you show in your images.
I can’t see these - BUT this time I find that I can replicate your movements of the invisible balance slider. I do get a tooltip then showing me how much I have moved the invisible slider. I can also move an invisible gain slider.
I will log this as an issue on Muse’s GitHub issues log (but first I will need to do some regression testing to see if this also occurs in earlier versions of Audacity - and I will also test on the alpha or latest nightly build for the upcoming AU4).
It seems to be a regression on Audacity 3.5.1 - Muse made some changes to the TCP (Track Control Panel) for 3.6.0 to tidy it up and make it a bit more modern-looking - these invisibility-cloaked sliders seem to be a side-effect of those changes.
