HELP

Im totally broke and cant afford music software… I need to crossfade and eliminate gaps between songs, but ive tried everything I know AND NOTHING IS WORKING. Can anyone help??

Please post again in the forum for your version of Audacity (1.2.x or 1.3.x) and your operating system (Mac, Window or Linux). Please be specific about what you are trying to do in Audacity, and what you have tried.

I dont have audacity. I dont want to download it if its not goin to work, thats why I was asking first. I have windows XP on a dell PC. Ive tried CD Burner XP, Goldwave, Powertracks… Ive tried cutting out the silences from the individual tracks

You may start by browsing the links on the top of this page, namely the Tutorials: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Tutorials

Audacity is free software, so you can download it for free and try it.

Open the first song in Audacity 1.3.12 and import the second. This should give you two songs one above the other. Use the Time Shift Tool (two black arrows) to push the second song later than the first. Then use the Envelope Tool (two white arrows and bent blue line) to fade out the top and fade in the bottom.

Repeat for each song. Then export the finished show.

Audacity does work.

You may want to take a look at Linux. For personal use all manner of great software is available for free or cheap, and it will turn an old Dell into a whole new animal because the performance of Linux on most computers is way better than Windows.

I’ve been using Audacity on Linux and Windows for years, but it’s a lot snappier on Linux (or a Mac, that is running on FreeBSD, another flavour of *nix).

Good luck,
