Help with recording DJ set

Hello all. I’ve been using Audacity for years now and have loved every minute of it. Sadly, my MacBook died earlier this week and I’ve been forced to use my desktop PC to record my DJ sets I record from my studio. I haven’t been able to successful record a mix since using my desktop because when I play my mix back after recording, I can hear the tracks that were cue’d up in my headphones and beatmatched prior to fading the new track in. I’ve never experienced this issue before. I’m using a Numark N4 controller as a mixer and interface for recording. Please help.

I don’t know anything about that controller… I think you need to tell us a bit more about your setup…

What/how are you recording? Are you recording are you reccording line-out, from the controller into line-in on the computer? Or, are you recording “Stereo Mix” from the soundcard? Or, the USB output from the controller?

Does the sound for the show come out of the computer, or out of the controller? How about your cue-mix? I assume the cue-mix comes out of a headphone jack on the controller?

Are you only recording the cue-mix, or both the cue-mix and the show-mix? I assume the show mix sounds OK? You do have speakers hooked-up to monitor the show-mix in your studio, right?
