Hey there! I’m on a PC (Windows 7 Professional. Intel(R) Core™ i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz, 64 bit operating system). I’m a complete newbie at this, so I’m not sure what information is relevant. Please let me know what info I need to include to help you help me. I’m using audacity 2.0.3
I used to be able to record streaming audio from Youtube on this computer, and for some reason, now I can’t.
In Audacity, I have the host options of WindowDirectSound, which then gives me the playback options of Speakers (High Definition Audio Device) and Primary Sound Driver. It also gives me the host option of MME, which then gives me playback options of Speakers (High Definition Audio Device) and Microsoft Sound Mapper (Output). Under recording device, it says that none are found.
What should I do in order to be able to record stereo mix again? As I mentioned earlier, I’m very new at this and not well-versed in computer/sound stuff, so please let me know any information I need to explain further.
I suggest you update to the latest Audacity 2.0.5 ( Audacity ® | Download for Windows ) . Then you will have an additional method in Device Toolbar to record computer playback by choosing “Windows WASAPI” host and the “(loopback)” input for the speakers.
Fairly obviously, Audacity cannot record anything if all the input devices are disabled. Audacity did not do that.
Please see Missing features - Audacity Support for the procedure to enable disabled and disconnected devices in Windows Sound. Then restart Audacity.
