Help needed using Zoom H4 with Audacity as external mic.

Hey guys,
I wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience or can advise me on an issue I’m having trying to use the Zoom H4n as an external mic on Audacity.
It connects fine, is recognised by both Windows and Audacity.
The problem is this; Though the sample rates are coordinated, the resulting recording on Audacity sounds as if it’s through a ring modulator, totally tinny
and wrong. What could I be doing wrong for the recording to be coming through like this?
Any tips appreciated, many thanks.
T.

I’m assuming you’re using headphones and not trying to use speakers and microphones in the same room.

Did you turn off Windows Enhanced Services?
